Giles Group Meetings for 2022

While we are confident that Meetings will restart sometime, the changes in regulations make it very difficult to confirm our meeting schedule. Currently the planned schedule for the first part of 2022 is as follows:

Meetings will take place on the second Monday of the month, at 2pm in the Community Centre, starting in January. Provisionally the plans are:

January 10th: The meeting will have our AGM and financial report, plus the party postponed from December, plus maybe some games of Bingo or similar, and the normal raffle.

February 14th: For Valentine’s Day, Margot Power will tell us what it has been like being a Town Councillor in Alresford, and naturally answer questions.

March 14th: Bernie Simmons will give a talk on the town Minibus history, which is currently run by the NATT, the New Alresford Town Trust.

April 11th: Nick Denbow will fill in here with a talk about Alresford Crafts, the maker of soft toys and dolls who worked in both town mills in the 60s and 70s, using example from the Alresford Museum.

May 9th: Denise Buxton, the Alresford “Village Agent” will introduce a talk on the services and activities offered by these community agents, who are supported by Age Concern and HCC

…..and then in June (on June 13th) we will possibly schedule a garden party, in the sunshine!

Following the discussion at the AGM in January, the coffee mornings will be suspended for January and February, and then hopefully continue on Tuesday mornings, 1030-1200, in the Community Centre from March starting on 1st March. However there will be no coffee mornings on the second Tuesday in the month, when this event conflicts with the coffee morning at St John’s.
